Get to know our talented Georgia Southern University Dance Team. We perform at all home mens basketball games and various events in the community. We have a very talented group of individuals! Make sure you check out our calendar, and come cheer us on at our next performance or basketball game!
Stephanie Viness
Head Coach
Stephanie Viness is a Double Eagle Alumni from Georgia Southern University, with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education and a Master of Science in Kinesiology.
Stephanie is the owner and Executive Director of Statesboro Elite Dance Studio, head coach of the Georgia Southern Dance Team, has 8 years experience as a cheerleader, and over 20 years of dance training, including 14 years competing. While competing, Stephanie received several top overall awards and dance scholarships at both the regional and national level. As a choreographer, her routines have won several awards including top overall, judges choice, and best choreography.
Stephanie has also worked with Inspire National Dance Competition for the last 7 years traveling all across the southeastern United States. She has performed at Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, The Capital One Bowl, and The Orange Bowl. She has also competed as a “pro” dancer in the local “Dancing with the Statesboro Stars” fundraiser event for Safe Haven for three years. She, and her partner, Adam Tsang, won 2018's 1st Place Judges’ Choice!
Stephanie is a Certified Educator in the state of Georgia, a certified Personal Trainer, and holds certifications in Group Exercise Fitness, Ballet Barre, Yoga I, Sports Nutrition, Pre & Post Natal Group Exercise Fitness and Pre & Post Natal Personal Trainer. She is always looking for ways to enhance her skills, education, and technique by attending multiple dance workshops and fitness conventions each year with well-known individuals in the fitness industry, along with taking classes from numerous well-known dancers and choreographers around the country.
Stephanie has a passion for dance and for education, and her goal is to make dance a large part of the Statesboro community, for all ages!
Rebekah Macker
Assistant Coach
Rebekah Macker was born and raised in Montgomery, AL. Growing up, she attended magnet performing arts school where she was trained in various styles such as ballet, jazz, modern, and hip hop. She started ballet classes at the age of 6 years at The Montgomery Ballet.
Throughout high school, Rebekah performed as a member of the student company at The Montgomery Ballet. She danced alongside the professional company in several productions including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
After graduating high school, Rebekah obtained a BA in Dance and BS in Food and Nutrition from The University of Alabama. While studying dance in college, Rebekah took classes in technique, light and sound, dance history, and dance instruction. She participated in The Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre in which the students performed original choreography by the dance faculty. She also performed original choreography by her peers with the student organization Dance Alabama!
After finishing her undergraduate degrees, Rebekah pursued a masters degree at Georgia Southern University in Kinesiology and later completed the Dietetic Internship program to become a Registered Dietitian.
